abbreviation of: Advanced Therapy Medicinal Product
definition: Charité 3R
Charité 3R – Replace | Reduce | Refine – promotes the development of innovative methods in biomedical research with the objective of replacing animal experiments, reducing their number or refining experiments in order to relieve the burden placed on laboratory animals. With the over-arching goal of improving biomedical translation into applicable therapies for the human patient in mind, Charité 3R is an interdisciplinary effort to improve both medicine and animal welfare. Charité 3R will stimulate research in all 3Rs and consequently foster the development of novel alternative methods.

definition: Calcium-Imaging: image-based measurement
image-based measurement of neuronal activity based on Ca2+-sensitive fluorescing proteins which change their fluorescence properties based on the amount of intracellular Ca2+.
membrane-bound ionotropic glutamate receptors, conducting Ca2+ und Na+ ions and thus mediating excitatory communication between neurons
abbreviation of: Polymerase Chain Reaction
Molecular biological procedure to amplify DNA
definition: Voltage indicators: membrane-bound voltage-sensitive fluorescing proteins
Voltage indicators are genetically encoded membrane-bound voltage-sensitive fluorescing proteins, which change their fluorescence properties based on the membrane potential of a cell.
